Everyone I know who has seen it has been horrified.

It is incredibly easy to be 'horrified in hindsight' at the moral standards of something that happened a hundred years ago, people take the moral high ground and pat themselves on the back with "I would never do anything like that!" but in reality a hundred years ago they most likely would have cheered on.
